SECTION 3.
[44258]
No. 1.
Sir,
Foreign Office to India Office.
Foreign Office, December 15, 1910.
I AM directed by Secretary Sir Edward Grey to acknowledge the receipt of your letter of the 5th instant regarding the expedition to Pienma, and to state that he agrees with Lord Crewe in thinking that no useful purpose would be served by notifying to the Chinese Government the dispatch of a British force to that district.
In the circumstances, Sir E. Grey will not address any instructions on the subject to His Majesty's Minister at Peking.
I have, &c.
